In biology, a chimera is an organism composed of genetically distinct cells, uniting multiple identities within a single body. In its figurative sense, a chimera is an illusion, a mirage, or a vision without a real foundation. This sculpture inhabits both meanings.

It appears coherent, yet its origin remains elusive. Every act of recognition is accompanied by doubt, as perception constructs realities from incomplete information. Marble, long associated with permanence and truth, paradoxically lends material certainty to an illusion.
